Contractions. Taking two words and putting them together to make a shorter word by leaving out some letters. And don't forget to put an apostrophe in place of the missing letters!

We performed some minor surgery on our words today. We used our scalpels (scissors) to cut apart and take out the part of the word we don't need. Then we stitched it back up (with tape and staples) to make a shorter word. The last fix was to put a bandaid in the place where the apostrophe goes.

We have some GREAT surgeons in our class!!
